COVID-19 Resources for Gaston County

Help for Families and Businesses Impacted by the Coronavirus

Happy Monday! 🚀Today, we’re getting the kids off to virtual school and settling into our new normal. I wanted to make you aware of new COVID-19 resources for Gaston County families and businesses.

“Heroes didn’t leap tall buildings or stop bullets with an outstretched hand; they didn’t wear boots and capes. They bled, and they bruised, and their superpowers were as simple as listening, or loving. Heroes were ordinary people who knew that even if their own lives were impossibly knotted, they could untangle someone else’s. And maybe that one act could lead someone to rescue you right back.” – Jodi Picoult

This past weekend, we worked the the Gaston Faith Community to create a one-stop website of COVID-19 resources for Gaston County. This organization is made up of community church leaders banding together with local government to help Gaston County in times of great need.

On the website, you’ll find resources available to families and businesses impacted by the Coronavirus outbreak. There’s a list of food banks, virtual counseling services, SBA loans, relief funds, and other information Gaston County residents need to know to get through the crisis. They also post regular updates about what your local government is doing to address the crisis and new resources as they become available.

Gaston Faith Community is a task force brought together by Gaston County Commissioner Tracy Philbeck, Pastor Austin Rammell of Venture Church, and Bishop John McCullough of Friendship Christian Church. They were organized to address the growing needs among Gaston County citizens caused by the COVID-19 outbreak.

In addition to sharing resources, the organization serves as a liaison to communicate needs and concerns from local congregations to government leaders at the county and state levels. It is also intended to network churches to best serve people in need.

Our Role in This Project

When Austin approached me about this project Friday afternoon, it clearly had to take top priority. It’s a vitally important initiative that benefits our entire community. And it’s a model for how the church and state can work together without stepping on each others’ toes.

I’m proud to lend our resources to support community partnerships like this one. Our team lives and works in this community. And just like you, we have indeed been impacted by the outbreak.

I believe our Gaston County community is stronger than any challenge we may face — as long as we face it together.

We all #winthistogether.
